Sensors that hear what cameras miss

Microphone and radio arrays that find aircraft by what they give off, and give off nothing themselves.

What we build

Glassware Labs Engineering builds passive sensing systems for places where anything that transmits gets noticed. We design distributed arrays of MEMS microphones and coherent software-defined radio receivers that detect aircraft by their sound signature and their radio emissions, determine their direction from several vantage points at once, and hand the resulting track to whatever the user already runs, from a tablet map to an existing control system. Nothing in the kit radiates, so the kit itself gives nothing away.

How we work

The systems are designed for pickup trucks, ground vehicles and unattended ground stations. They are built from parts available on the open market, so that nothing in them depends on a single source, and developed in California under United States export rules. The work follows the habit that built the company's accessibility software: measure first, write it down, ship the piece that is proven. We are at the first-article stage and are working with sensor and semiconductor suppliers now.
